preciouz asked:

My oath is ’til next month. I want to go to tijuana. And my husband is asking me to go with him. My greencard is expired for months already, I have another country’s passport, and i’m just waiting for my oath. Do they ask for prove of either citizenship or permanent resident or just driver’s license…can any one help me answer this questions? I really want to go, it will be my fist time.

PLease Dont tell me to renew when I’m saying that I have an oath pending…by the way I have passed the test. I just need a clear answer thank you!

Can any one help me please!!!

Don’t do it! You might have big problems getting back into the US. Tell your husband to be patient and wait until you become a citizen.

Why take the risk? You will indeed need proof of citizenship or permanent residency to re-enter the US — a drivers license will no longer suffice.

You’re stuck in the US until you have a legal way of getting back in, your options being proof of citizenship or a current visa, a tourist visa even not necessarily a resident one. A driver’s license is only good for proving your identity and allowing you to drive in whatever state you got it in.
